    Neighbors,

Based on community feedback we are officially discouraging traditional trick or treating this year. Instead we have created a "reverse candy map". Volunteers will deliver candy buckets to children in the neighborhood.

In order to know where we need to deliver  we have created a really short survey for parents and caregivers to fill out. If you know of any neighbors that are not online but have kiddos please fill it out for them (with permission of course). Unlike previous years where we are directing families to homes passing out treats, the map will only be made available to the volunteers delivering the buckets.

If you want to help us out please email Halloween@westviewatlanta.org or send me a message

We will need volunteers to donate buckets and candy (or money towards these items). Volunteers to fill the buckets. And Volunteers to help deliver the buckets.

If you would like to donate candy you can drop it off to the Kenekt at the corner of RDA and Willard or email Halloween@westviewatlanta.org

    Survey: https://forms.gle/MUnuSSfhCDpwTP5b7

Halloween may look a little different this year, but Westview will make the best of it!

Hey neighbors! Just a reminder that the special election to fill the unexpired portion of Congressman John Lewis' term is TODAY! You can look over the ballot here:

    https://www.fultoncountyga.gov/services/voting-and-elections/sample-ballots

This election is just to fill the seat from October- January. In November we will elect a representative that will serve a full 2 year term when the next Congress is sworn in January of 2021.

As you exercise your vote please take pictures (outside of the precinct) with your "I'm a GA Voter" sticker and tag #WestviewVotes. We will feature neighbors all day on our social media platforms.

    Hello neighbors,

One of the responsibilities of the WCO is to hear zoning issues, variance requests, and applications as part of the NPU process. During the August WCO meeting we discussed the property at 1637 Emerald Avenue. The City Office of Planning issued a permit for a "renovation" of the property nearly a week after work began by the contractor and days after members of the community first raised alarm.

Multiple neighbors have engaged the City Office of Planning, Councilwoman Andrea Boone, Code Enforcement, Commissioner Tim Keane, the staff of Mayor Bottoms about this issue. A month ago our NPU Chair met with Commissioner Keane about this and other properties where the city issued permits without community engagement. Unfortunately all of our emails, calls and meetings have fallen on deaf ears with the City Office of Planning. The office has allowed a developer to begin building a 4 story house when it only approved a renovation and addition of a second floor and garage....again outside of the normal zoning process.

With the help and support of Councilwoman Andrea Boone I will submit an appeal to the Atlanta Board of Zoning Adjustment on behalf of the community. At the suggestion of Councilwoman Boone I am also asking that a full ethics investigation be initiated into the circumstances of how these permits were issued in this case. I have attached my letter to the BZA for your review.

The Use of Force Advisory Council was launched on June 10, 2020 by Mayor Bottoms with the goal of evaluating Atlanta Police Departments’ Use of Force procedures and developing recommendations on areas for improvement. The Mayor has directed the group to develop two outputs: 1) 14-day report on initial findings, https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.atlantaga.gov%2Fhome%2Fshowdocument%3Fid%3D46786&data=02%7C01%7CLLaRue%40AtlantaGa.Gov%7Cbfbda808837542ed7f8008d82cc4bf36%7C031a550af1f34b629c643ef02c7798a5%7C0%7C0%7C637308570825791834&sdata=HBNIvJTQ5qDfH88uBY0CTUdOLm9anFdk4Cc9D1tZWEs%3D&reserved=0 and 2) a more comprehensive 45-day report (currently under development and the focus of this survey).

There are two opportunities for the community to provide feedback on the focus areas and preliminary recommendations developed by the Advisory Council.

    1.    The Use of Force Advisory Council has launched a survey to capture feedback on the preliminary recommendations. The public can give feedback on prioritizing recommendations and provide comment on APD use of force.

    a.    The community can use this link to provide feedback: Use of Force Advisory Council Survey https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.surveymonkey.com%2Fr%2F67QXW7Z&data=02%7C01%7CLLaRue%40AtlantaGa.Gov%7Cbfbda808837542ed7f8008d82cc4bf36%7C031a550af1f34b629c643ef02c7798a5%7C0%7C0%7C637308570825801791&sdata=YWT0IagToFCqRKGHWNl%2F5EVeOjc1Sr6hqKjcRYXLBQg%3D&reserved=0

    b.    For community members unable to access a computer / device to complete the survey – they can also call ATL311 to submit

    c.     The survey is open and will remain open until 7/29/2020

    2.    On Wednesday 7/22, 5-7pm the Use of Force Advisory Council will be holding a community discussion on the preliminary recommendations from the group. This will be a chance for the community to see the work conducted to date, initial findings, and to provide feedback/ask questions.

    a.    Attendees can register to join the webinar here: Use of Force Advisory Council - Community Discussion Registration https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fatlantaga-gov.zoom.us%2Fwebinar%2Fregister%2FWN_XSIDPFW3TDKa838h4-JWDw&data=02%7C01%7CLLaRue%40AtlantaGa.Gov%7Cbfbda808837542ed7f8008d82cc4bf36%7C031a550af1f34b629c643ef02c7798a5%7C0%7C0%7C637308570825801791&sdata=Cd5QdPVYHN2g6hhaDc30%2FkSb2MWMLuO1JYWIvK45rhI%3D&reserved=0
