WHAT WE ARE
The mission of this project is to preserve and share the stories of long-term Westview residents and document the historic and changing landscape of the community. We want to collect oral histories, images, important papers, and other community mementos, and share these online for residents and others. We hope to inspire future interest for historical work in Westview.
This project is for the community, by the community, and we hope to involve as many community members as possible throughout every stage of this work. Please see the resources below if you’re interested in getting involved. The WCO would love to hear from you.
WHO WE ARE
The committee for this project includes members of the Westview Community Organization (WCO), WCO Youth and Education Committee, and more, along with Atlanta community partners SWATL and Georgia State University’s Heritage Preservation Program.
Georgia State University Graduate students have begun the process of recording oral histories, and they have found a few topics that continue to come up in conversations. READ MORE.
Do you have old photos of the neighborhood? Perhaps of landmarks that have since gone or people important to the neighborhood? Or anything that documents the way of life in Westview over the years? We want this project to expand beyond the stories to pieces that help tell them, so let us know if you have something you’d like to contribute to the cause.
