The Westview Community Organization (WCO) is a neighborhood organization that represents the interests of the Westview Community in all matters that fall within its boundaries.
It was founded in 1974 when Altoona Place, Rogers Avenue and several other street clubs came together to deal with neighborhood flooding. Following the flood advocacy the organization adopted the motto: “Working together to make our neighborhood a better place to live – one that is beautiful, safe, and secure.”
Today, we are still working together to make our neighborhood a better place to live. The WCO now promotes the 'best view' in Atlanta: a view which reveals a community in motion creating a better reality for all.
Westview residents are involved in an array of activities:
Youth and Education: The “governing body” for our youth assisting in event planning, volunteer work, and leadership development. To participate email youth@westviewatlanta.org
School Representatives: Youth serve as representative to the schools of the Washington Cluster. School representatives will build partnerships with area schools. School representatives will keep the community informed of ways to our local schools.
Youth Council: An advisory board that helps plan community events and engages the WCO leadership on behalf of the youth of Westview
This Old House: This Old House is an opportunity for Westview to give back to its seniors. Once a quarter the community rallies around the home of a senior to cure code enforcement violations and to make needed repairs. To nominate a senior please email development@westviewatlanta.org
Westview Gives: From our annual Thanksgiving giveaway to supporting families through disasters, Westview has a big heart and we are proud to wear it on our sleeve.
Porch Parties: All work and no play makes for a dull community. When the weather warms up Westview gathers on porches across the community. Grab a drink, get ready for some laughs and hang out with your neighbors. If you are interested in hosting a party, please email events@westviewatlanta.org
