As discussed in the Renew Atlanta/TSPLOST Second round of Prioritization & Rebaselining Public Engagement Meetings, the cost to deliver the full scope of the initial program considerably exceeds the funding available from the Renew Atlanta Bond and TSPLOST revenues. Thus, they are working to transparently prioritize and re-baseline the initial program lists to deliver the greatest impact to Atlanta’s above-ground infrastructure and transportation network with the available funds. Through this re-baselining, they engaging us, the stakeholders, to help inform the process.

Kelly Ridenhour with Trees Atlanta and Erik Fyfe with Chattahoochee Riverkeeper are working on a project to plant streetside trees that manage stormwater.  

2 Locations in Westview neighborhood were selected with plans to install at the end of March. 

We encourage the community to get involved with the planting. Projects happen rain or shine, so please check the weather beforehand and come prepared. Trees Atlanta will provide all necessary tools and instruction. All volunteers need closed-toed shoes or boots, clothes that can get dirty, sunscreen and bug spray as needed, snacks as needed (though a meal or snack before the project is recommended), and drinking water in reusable containers. No one-time-use plastic bottles, please.

Westview, the secret is out! Our stretch of the BeltLine is featured here as one of the 7 Best-Kept Secrets in ATL's Favorite Neighborhoods. 

The City of Atlanta Department of Public Works announces that beginning April 1, all bulk pick-ups must be scheduled. There will be a maximum of 12 scheduled bulk pick-ups per year. To Council Member Andrea Boone, the Renew Atlanta Bond Program team, and The City of Atlanta TSPLOST Program team,

I attended the recent Renew Atlanta Prioritization and Rebaselining plan meeting and provided feedback there but want to reiterate my concerns about the current plan and how it impacts Westview and the surrounding neighborhoods. 

According to the city’s own HIN analysis, the intersections at Cascade Rd and RDA / Donnelly Ave. are among the most dangerous in the city. In just the first two months of 2019, we’ve already had three pedestrian and cyclist deaths, one pedestrian and one cyclist on Cascade and one pedestrian just around the corner on RDA (a dangerous road that also needs Complete Street funding - thank you for prioritizing that project). The current plan to split the Cascade Complete Street project into two phases and to leave the second phase, which addresses one of our city’s most dangerous roadways, incomplete is unacceptable. I understand that Cascade Phase II is one of the more expensive projects on the list but it is also, arguably, the most critical to ensuring more community lives are not lost. 

I would like to formally submit that the Cascade Rd Phase II Complete Street project be prioritized to Fully Funded under the TSPLOST Prioritization and Rebaselining effort.

Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. currently has two open calls for applicants to serve on either an Exhibition Jury or Public Art Advisory Council.

We cannot express how important it is for community members to get engaged in the Prioritization & Rebaselining. Below is a recap of this process, how you can get involved, presentation materials used at each meeting and also contact information.

BACKGROUND:

The city is making decisions regarding which streets it will spend the $540 million raised through T-Splost and the Renew Atlanta Grant. 

The city council has received its report. RDA complete streets has already been fully funded through the Flats at Westview, Cascade Road Phase 2 (B.E. Mays to RDA) is listed as design only, Langhorn Street is not funded, Beecher complete repaving has been funded, the Westview Cemetery/West Lake Trail is listed as design only and the Lionel Hampton connection to the Beltline will be left unfunded. There will be plenty to advocate around and encourage you to attend each of the Round 2 meetings.

T-SPLOST BACKGROUND:

The Renew Atlanta/TSPLOST programs, launched in 2015 and 2016, were created to help address more than $1 billion in infrastructure backlog facing the City. Though the programs have made much progress to date delivering key projects across Atlanta, we face significant challenges as we move forward to complete the full initial program scope. Moreover, the cost to deliver the full scope of the initial program considerably exceeds the funding available from the Renew Atlanta Bond and anticipated TSPLOST revenues.

Thus, we are working diligently to prioritize and re-baseline the initial program lists to deliver the greatest impact to Atlanta’s above-ground infrastructure and transportation network with the available funds. Through this re-baselining effort, we are dedicated to engaging all stakeholders to help inform the process in a transparent and meaningful way.
