    Greetings, neighbors!

We are preparing to demonstrate against Atlanta BeltLine, Inc.’s unwillingness to meet with our neighborhoods regarding the pending sale of their Murphy Crossing site. The demonstration will be held at the Beltline’s upcoming 3rd Quarterly Meeting aptly to discuss “Equity and Sustainability”. This meeting will be held this Tuesday, September 17th, from 6-8pm at the 725 Ponce Building (725 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30306). See attached.

At their meeting, we will confront the ABI staff on their intentions to not communicate with us, review the survey results, or engage our communities in any meaningful way. Furthermore, we will demand to meet with the Beltline to discuss the survey results, general community sentiments and community benefits agreements prior to the sale of the property.

We are encouraging community residents to show their support for this effort by:

    #1) Attending the meeting

#2) Wearing RED T-Shirts in solidarity of the Group, and

#3) Speaking up during the Q/A period (or deferring your time to the leader)

Please also share with your neighbors.

~Learn from national experts and local leaders on how using the Main Street approach has transformed their districts.

~Join a coalition of Main Street advocates that are working together to highlight the power of localized economies.

A huge congratulations to Kiyomi Rollins for her leadership in bringing this innovative fellowship to Westview! Kiyomi will share more information with the community after the fellowship offcially begins in September!

Urgent Ask: NPU S is trying to kill Atlanta Streets Alive. Can you take a minute and write a letter of support regarding the event. Please email it to Sagirah Jones at sagirah@atlantabike.org.

Sample letter written by a fellow neighbor:

I know this mostly goes unsaid but Atlanta Streets Alive is such an important event to our city and its communities, especially when it comes to recent events. The addition of dockless scooters to our city and their immediate and widespread use shows how necessary a reliable last-mile transportation alternative is to the residents and visitors of Atlanta.

The tragic deaths of 4 people on those scooters only underscores the need for events like Atlanta Streets Alive and awareness of the danger that cars pose when they are required to share the road. This city needs strong investment in safer streets more than ever before so when I heard that some people wanted to cancel Atlanta Streets Alive this year it is disappointing beyond words.

I urge you not to cancel this important event. Not just for the sake of the children that could experience something fun and unique, or for the people that will see all new areas of the city and not even for the sake of communities like Westview, who have never been included and have fought so hard to be noticed and respected as a part of the city, but truly because the city needs events like this more than ever to remind everyone what's at stake
